Zip Zap Circus

Zip Zap Circus

Have you heard of the Zip Zap Circus? These are a few of our favourite things about them:

  • They are all about empowering people – especially kids – many of whom come from very difficult backgrounds. All their classes are free.
  • They’re proudly South African.
  • They’re SO talented and professional – they’ve even performed for Obama at the White House.
  • A lot of the kids who start as students go off and have sparkling careers in entertainment , and then come back and teach at Zip Zap, which really shows how much of a sense of belonging Zip Zap creates, and how much love there is in their “family”.
  • The incredible stories of the lives that Zip Zap has changed.

We are so proud to have been the ones to build them a new website that captures both the magic and the substance of who they are.

The website includes an online learning platform to allow them to continue classes in the middle of the pandemic. This also opens up exciting future opportunities for Zip Zap!

In our client’s words:

It was such a delight to work with Pomegranite. From the first briefing session the team just ‘got us!’
They not only interpreted our brief accurately, but also added so much value with additional creative elements, ideas and user-experience enhancements.

Sarah was extremely patient with me throughout the build, as I had may other priorities to attend to and the website often had to take second place.

They also made it so easy to send feedback and edits.

They are exceptionally professional, displayed integrity, a vested interest in our brand and made the experience very rewarding.

I would highly recommend them as partners in any web related project.

Sustainability Starts with Teachers Course

Sustainability Starts with Teachers Course

The Sustainability Starts with Teachers Course is for teacher educators and TVET educators. The focus is on an action-oriented approach to transformative learning in teacher education and TVET institutions. The UNESCO-led capacity building programme encourages teacher educators and TVET educators to put transformative education and learning towards sustainable development at the centre of their educational work.

This online course was a follow-on from the website we built for the programme. It was developed in close collaboration with the team at Rhodes University’s Environmental Learning Research Centre. The course follows a five-step action learning programme framework. The visual link to the existing site came through with the banners design by Flo Creative. The course also features a data free version, powered by biNu, which allows users without data on their mobiles to access the course.

In our client’s words:

“Pomegranite is a wonderful, professional team with innovative ideas always focused on the customer’s individual needs. The Sustainability Starts with Teachers Site is well built, with a sound LMS system in place that is not only eye catching, but works great on all types of devices. As the course content developer it was a pleasure to work with the Pomegranite team. They really listened to what I envisioned and provided continuous professional technical support during the development, launch and duration of the Online Course.” – Dr. W van Staden, ELRC, Rhodes University

Strengthening Postgraduate Supervision

Strengthening Postgraduate Supervision is a course created by educators at South African universities and shared with institutions locally and around the world. The project required rebuilding an old website with updated content and a revamp of the look and feel to be in line with sibling projects, Enhancing Postgraduate Environments and Creating Postgraduate Collaborations. We created the design for all three sites as well as a pop-up which alerted users on their first visit to any of the sites.

Creating Postgraduate Collaborations

Creating Postgraduate Collaborations

Creating Postgraduate Collaborations seeks to foster the development of research-rich environments in which academics and postgraduate students can thrive. This project required a synchronous online course to bring together all nine universities across five countries after we all met for a launch meeting in Istanbul in February 2020. With the spread of COVID-19 shortly afterward, this course became a central tool in the running of the project virtually, as opposed to the summer schools which had been planned in various countries.

It has been a pleasure to also work on sibling projects Enhancing Postgraduate Environments and Strengthening Postgraduate Supervision.

In our client’s words:

“The CPC course was a huge success. You guys are instantly responsive, creative, enthusiastic and make things happen. You also tackle our stupid questions with tolerance and humour. You’re the best!” –  Sioux McKenna, Creating Postgraduate Collaborations

sologix website development by Pomegranite

Having worked in big business for 25 years, Anton Pretorius decided to turn his attention to doing work which creates growth and generates improvement. He felt that working with small and medium-sized enterprises is the best way to achieve this because these businesses drive our economy, create employment and allow individuals to improve their situation. And so he started Sologix.

Anton needed a corporate identity and website to communicate who he is and what he can offer. While representing him as a trusted advisor, we also wanted to bring across his personality. He’s a dad, a surfer, a motorbike enthusiast and “the biggest Pink Floyd fan in [his] home”.

In 2019 we launched several online courses on the Sologix platform, which allowed Anton to extend his reach beyond Cape Town-based clients. As clients of Anton ourselves, we were thrilled to be part of a project that brings his valuable skills and insight to as many people as possible.

In our client’s words:

“Sologix has come through the ranks with Pomegranite. Our engagement started as a simple online presence website in 2015 and over time evolved into a more engaged offering with occasional blog posts and the like. As of 2019 Pomegranite has been instrumental in taking Sologix to the next level with an online platform for business coaching and development. We offer a range of courses that our users can register for, which allow both users and administrators to track their progress online. The team at Pomegranite is exemplary in the advice they provide, reaction time in addressing issues (with special mention in launching the Crisis 101 course) and support given throughout the process. I highly recommend Pomegranite as an online presence consultancy.” – Anton Pretorius, Sologix

green skills

Green Skills

The Green Skills Project (2015-2017) is a project of the Environmental Skills Planning Forum chaired by the Department of Environmental Affairs.

It aims to engage green skills researchers, employers, funders, Departments, SETAs and other skills planning agencies, across all sectors.

Pomegranite built the Green Skills website for everyone interested in the analysis, planning and development of skills to take care of South Africa’s water, waste, clean energy and biodiversity. We also built on online course teaching these subjects.
