The V&A Food Market

How do you capture the sights and tastes of a vibrant food market on a website?

The Victoria & Alfred Waterfront is one of the most popular attractions in Cape Town. It’s no wonder then, given that the city is considered a food capital, that this historic location boasts its own palace of all things delicious: the V&A Waterfront Food Market.

When the team behind the Food Market asked us to help design their own easy-to-use website, we were thrilled at the opportunity to highlight their incredible variety of vendors and cuisines. To best showcase over 40 stalls, we decided on a grid format, using imagery of each vendor’s offering, then, once clicked on, a photo of them, their story and links to engage with them directly. By using this templated approach, we were able to mimic the experience of walking through this incredible space, while promoting each stall – not to mention boxing clever with budget!

On average, the V&A Food Market sees over

2,200,000

visitors per year

“We chose to work with Pomegranite as fast turnaround from brief to final design and execution is important to us. With constant changes the need for straight forward processes that can be executed timeously allows us to keep relevant.”

– Amanda Coulson, V&A Waterfront Food Market’s General Manager
