Meet Katherine
You know that feeling you get when you listen to golden oldies – songs like ‘Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m Yours)’ by Stevie Wonder? You’re at once comforted, warm and fuzzy, while also somehow energised. You’d like to harness that feeling and all the possibility it holds.
That’s how it felt, after years of working with Katherine in a freelance capacity, to entertain the possibility of her joining the team permanently. Not only is she a brilliant writer, she’s organised, empathetic, experienced, kind, efficient, an amazing communicator, and generally has a vibe about her that I would term “frighteningly competent with a side of whimsy”. In short, she’s the perfect digital project manager, and we’re thrilled to welcome her to the Pomegranite team.
You could say that it’s felt somewhat inevitable that Kath would end up on the team. Working with her over the years has felt effortless in the way that it sometimes does when there’s so much alignment – in ethos, in approach, in sense of humour. As if we needed any more confirmation, it lay in the email containing her signed contract. It held only five words.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
So many things! A singer (very specifically Christina or Britney), an actress (stage > screen), a witch (like one of the Owens or Halliwell sisters)… the list goes on.
As a talented writer, in addition to a project manager, what do you think makes digital storytelling such a powerful tool?
We’re naturally drawn to stories and look for them in everything as a way to make sense of things, whether we realise it or not. Digital storytelling is really just using that very human instinct to your advantage. When you’re intentional about how you show up online – from your design to the words you use, and even the clients you take on – it feels a bit like magic when it all comes together.
If you were an astronaut and had to choose a wake-up song, which artist would you pick and why is it Taylor Swift?
P.S. Ok the actual question: what song would you choose?
Haha! I’m a light sleeper so anything would do – but if I had a choice, it would have to be “All Too Well,” the 10-minute version.
Katherine in a nutshell
Always wants things to be beautiful and interesting. Loves a good (or bad) scary movie. UCT Linguistics Honours graduate who still thinks in phonetics. Cat mom to Eleanor (a total Betty). Feels most herself when she’s dancing – even if it’s on her own in the kitchen.
