How do you reach parents through their screens so that they really feel the warmth and magic of your school?
First, you start with the story, and the people who know it inside out.
We held a workshop with Auckland Park Preparatory School (APPS) so that we could get a real sense of what makes their beautiful school under the oaks special. We asked strategic questions, and we listened closely to their answers. So much thought goes into the way in which the APPS girls experience school life, and we loved hearing how much the girls’ opinions are valued.
APPS is a small Christian, English-medium school for girls in Johannesburg that offers a world-class holistic and innovative education from Grade 0 to Grade 7. From the very first day of their school journey, through every interaction, APPS girls receive the important message: you belong.
We worked on the website content to ensure that the same warmth you feel as you walk through the school grounds was conveyed in a digital space. The new design ensures that content is presented in an easily digestible format, with beautiful images (photos are so important when it comes to school websites!) and animated features that inject a sense of fun and play into the user experience.
Another important aspect of this website that has a positive impact on user experience is that it has a limited number of pages. We always say that a website should be more of an online brochure than an archive, and the APPS team were really on board with this thinking. Their social media, run by the school, does a beautiful job in giving people a window into their vibrant school life with regular updates, which helps keep their website streamlined.
