How do you create an online platform that makes it easy for healthcare professionals across the continent to engage and learn ?

PATA (Paediatric-Adolescent Treatment for Africa) is dedicated to eliminating HIV in children, adolescents, young people, and caregivers in sub-Saharan Africa, by providing service delivery support to various healthcare champions. They do this on the ground, through the PATA network and their two websites: TeamPATA and the PATA Linking and Learning Hub.

TeamPATA features an expansive Resource Hub of documents not only created by PATA, but by PATA partners as well. The website is lively and rich with PATA programmes and even includes messages of support for health providers. 

The Linking and Learning Hub is an interactive platform for capacity building and peer-to-peer exchange across the PATA network. This website houses PATA’s activity wall (a lot like a Facebook wall) and their online courses, which are free to take once a user is registered. The Hub also features interactive elements like achievements tracking where users can complete ‘tasks’ on the website to earn points and compete to be top of the leaderboard.

The annual PATA summit, which has been convening since 2005, brings health providers together in-person and on the Hub – connecting over 5000 participants virtually each year.
