Meet Anja, our new social media manager
By Sarah
When we interviewed candidates for the social media manager position at Pomegranite, we took notes during each chat to help us remember key points about each person.
During Anja’s interview, Liz only wrote down one word: yay!
As soon as Anja’s second interview, which involved a chat with other members of our team, ended, Nicole said, “She reminds me of a younger me…”
And Tom said, “Hire her immediately!”
So we did. She joined us on 15 July and we’re so happy to have her as part of our team.
Here’s a quick bio to introduce her:
Social media manager, content writer, UCT graduate. Finds joy in the patterns between social culture and social media – doesn’t understand Crocs. Born first in a set of twins and enjoys the seniority. Cinema buff, awards show enthusiast, reality show fanatic and has mastered Superbalist’s discount calendar. Passionate about equal access to resources and always willing to lend a hand and a voice.
To get to know her better, we asked her a few questions.
Can you describe your experience of Pomegranite thus far in three words?
Energetic, creative, inclusive.
When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a movie star! I still love all the details that go into the script, costume and set design of films.
What do you find most intriguing about social media right now?
I’m intrigued by different attitudes to fashion. While social media makes it easy to buy fast fashion, people are becoming far more conscious of supporting local, sustainable designers, and are spreading the word too.
Tell us one surprising thing about you.
When I was 7 years old I was on a TV game show called “Small Talk” with my brother. I remember being chuffed that we got two days off school to film it.
That last revelation was very popular with the team. We’ve included a link to an old episode (not the one Anja was on) in case you feel like a journey down memory lane.
Anja has already effortlessly rolled with the punches in the thick of our team banter and held her own in a contentious game of “two truths and a lie”. We are excited to see what the future holds for her at Pomegranite.
